چکیده
CONCLUSIONS 1 . A relatively large number of fractures of the neck of the femur occur in which no active attention can be given to the fracture, because of the general condition of the patient. About 65 to 70 per cent. of the cases receive active treatment for the fracture. 2. Various methods of treatment w’ith metallic fixation leave a great deal to be desired as to the outcome. 3, Osteotomy as a primary therapeutic procedure allows more certainty in the prediction of results, but demands the sacrifice of part of the function of the hip. 4, Primary bone-grafting after closed reduction eliminates the disadvantages of the methods described here ; that is to say, it will more surely prevent aseptic necrosis and neck resorption, and at the same time it will maintain better hip function. At the present time, w-e prefer this method of treatment. to all others, because the results have been better.

Comparing the Effect of Alendronate and Vitamin D Administration on Lumbosacral Fusion and Severity of Low Back Pain in Patients After Posterior Lumbar Fusion Surgery: A Randomized Clinical Trial
Background and purpose: Bone fusion is a dynamic process and availability of calcium and balance of vitamin D can be effective in post spinal cord fusion. There are contradictory results on this issue, so, we decided to compare the effect of administration of vitamin D and alendronate on lumbosacral vertebral fusion in patients undergoing posterior spinal fusion surgery. Materials and methods:...
متن کاملFusion of Multiple Segments Can Increase the Incidence of Sacroiliac Joint Pain After Lumbar or Lumbosacral Fusion.
STUDY DESIGN A retrospective study. OBJECTIVE To determine the risk factors for sacroiliac joint pain (SIJP) after lumbar or lumbosacral fusion. SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA Recently, the sacroiliac joint has gained increased attention as a source of pain after lumbar or lumbosacral fusion. We examined the factors related to the development of SIJP after lumbar or lumbosacral fusion. METHOD...
متن کاملAnalysis of instrumentation failures after three column osteotomies of the spine
BACKGROUND Correction of fixed spinal imbalance in a sagittal and/or coronal plane frequently needs a tricolumnar wedge resection when the deformity is rigid. Complications associated with deformity correction surgery are pseudoarthrosis and implant failure located along the construct. The purposes of this study were to assess comparative rates of pseudoarthrosis (implant failure) at weaker poi...

approach (4). In 2002, Foley and Lefkowitz enhanced the same concept by means of the implementation of a minimally invasive TLIF (MI-TLIF) with the goal to reduce tissue damages, at the same time achieving both neural decompression and adequate interbody fusion (2). █ INTRODUCTION Minimally invasive surgery has gained popularity over the last decades. In 1982, Harms and Rolinger developed the t...
متن کاملI-44: Mutagenesis during Embryogenesis
We developed several novel tools to genome wide screen for CNVs and SNPs in single cells. When applied to cleavage stage embryos from young fertile couples we discovered, unexpectedly, an extremely high incidence of chromosomal instability, a hallmark of tumorigenesis (Vanneste et al., Nature Medicine, 2009; Vanneste et al., Hum.Reprod., 2011). Not only mosaicisms for whole chromosome aneuploid...
